Free Electrical Inspections
We are currently offering free eletrical inspections to customers who fall within 15 miles of central Manchester. Our skilled engineers will perform a visual safety inspection and provide you with a report as to the condition of your electrics, this is free and without obligation. We would ask that anyone taking advantage of this offer give serious consideration to using our company should any remedial work be required. Electricity is part of all our lives, we use it from the moment we wake up (switch on the lights, boil the kettle), throughout the day (radio, TV, PC) and while we sleep (alarms, electric blanket). As a result, we sometimes forget how powerful and dangerous it can be.
Simply by having the electrics in your home checked regularly you can reduce the risk of fire and electric shock.
Do:
- call us immediately if you see burn marks or sockets feel hot
- find out how old your wiring is and get the installation checked every 10 years or when you move into a property
- turn off unused electrical appliances at night when a fire can spread quickly and unnoticed
- check for fraying on flexible cables to appliances
- take extra care when using portable appliances, especially with items which become hot such as hairdryers
- check the rating of extension leads and splitters, make sure you don't overload them
- regularly test smoke alarms and replace batteries
Don't
- put electric heaters near curtains
- cover vents on heating units
- trail flexible cables under carpets or rugs
- use bulbs with highter wattage than stated on the fitting
- use equipment outdoors without an RCD
- remove the battery from a smoke alarm to silence it
- let fat or grease build up on the cooker
Smoke Alarms
We can fit mains powered interconnected smoke alarms in any premesis without damaging the decoration, they will give you valuable time when you need it most. If you are elderly, disabled or have other special needs please call us as we may be able to offer a free installation service.
Faulty Electrics
During our many years of work in both the domestic and business sectors we have discovered some potentialy fatal faults, we have always rectified any serious fault immediately, even when there was no budget to do so, this is just one example of our serious commitment to client safety.
Flooding
Immediate action once the water has subsided:
Do:
- make sure the property is safe to enter
- take a torch
- switch off the supply at the fuse box - if safe to do so. see picture below

switch off at the main switch
Don't
- use candles
- use any mains powered electrical items unless you have been advised it is safe to do so
- go near exposed wiring
- try to clean up until advised it is safe to do so
